El dijous 11 de maig d'11 a 12.30 tindrà lloc, de manera virtual, la xarrada gratuïta "Enriching the high school currículum: the case of STEAM program using Arduino", a càrrec del professor David Cuertelles (Universidad de Malmo, Suècia), en el marc del Programa d'Internacionalització a casa de la Facultat de Psicologia i Logopèdia.

Biografia: David Cuartielles, co-founder of the Arduino project is from Madrid, Spain. He obtained his degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in 1999. After graduation, he worked as a researcher and developer in various fields, including wireless communication and artificial intelligence. In 2004, he moved to the city of Malmö, Sweden, where he began teaching at the Malmö University School of Arts and Communication. In 2005, Cuartielles teamed up with Italian artist and designer Massimo Banzi to create Arduino, an open-source electronics platform based on simple hardware and software. Arduino quickly became popular among artists, designers, and hobbyists for its accessibility and flexibility, and has since become a key tool in the maker movement. Cuartielles continued to be involved in the development and evolution of the Arduino platform, serving as the company's CTO until 2017. In addition to his work on Arduino, he has also been a vocal advocate for open-source hardware and education, working to promote access to technology and knowledge around the world. Today, Cuartielles continues to teach and develop projects in the field of interactive technology and is involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting innovation and creativity. He is a visiting professor at UPM and has been awarded numerous honors and awards for his contributions to the field of electronics and education.

Resumen: Cuartielles and Fajardo are studying the influence of STEAM educational materials in the learning and teaching process. In this case, a group of teachers and students get introduced to state of the art educational materials in the field of technology. Study participants are surveyed before and after an educational action. The research shows whether the materials help participants learn about contemporary technological tools.
