El dijous 28 de setembre es duran a terme les següents conferències presencials en anglés dins del Programa d'Internacionalització a casa de la Facultat de Psicologia i Logopèdia.

  • 9:30-11:30 h. Data transformations on qualitative and quantitative variables. Dr. Sławomir Pasikowski (University of Lodz). Sala M204, Dpt. Psicologia Evolutiva i de l’Educació, 2n pis.

Resum: The aim of the seminar is to familiarize participants with the concept of data transformation. Data transformation is a prerequisite not only when the goal is to compare the distributions of two or more variables expressed in different units of measurement but also when the distributions must conform to the criteria imposed by data analysis methods. The seminar will cover the objectives of implementing transformation procedures, the theoretical basis of transforming variable distributions, and the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used for these transformations. Examples in Excel or SPSS will be used during the presentation.

  • 12:30-14:00 h. Promoting sustainable mental health: Possibilities and challenges for technology. Dr. Gerben Westerhof (University of Twente). Saló de Graus.

Resum: Over the past years, the concept of mental health has broadened from a focus on the prevention and treatment of symptoms and disorders to promoting and protecting mental health. However, we cannot expect everyone always to be in an optimal state of mental health and well-being. That is why we increasingly focus on a more dynamic model that includes the ability to adapt to changes in everyday life. The ability to adapt takes place at several time scales: from coping with hassles on a day-to-day basis to learning new competences to a more encompassing life story that includes questions like where do I come from, where I am now and where will I go from here? Technology can play an important role in supporting the ability to adapt across these time scales: Biocueing for example can support people to be aware of emotional arousal. Online apps and virtual reality can provide environments to train new competences like gratitude or compassion and digital narrative technologies can support in documenting and reflecting on their life stories. Several values play an important role, from engagement in human-technology interaction to compassion at the level of relationships and diversity and inclusion at the societal level.

  • 15:30-17:00 h. Sexuality throughout the lifecycle. Dr. Justka Ratkowska-Pasikowska (University of Lodz). Saló d’Actes (soterrani).

Resum: The goal of the lecture is to present the changing nature of human sexuality at different stages of life, starting from childhood to old age. The lecture aims to familiarize participants with various aspects of sexuality, such as physical, emotional, and social, which are significant at each stage of human development. It provides an opportunity to delve into the knowledge of changes that occur in the sexual sphere throughout life, analyze the evolution of sexual needs, behaviors, and preferences, and understand the influence of biological, psychological, and social factors on the formation of an individual's sexuality. The lecture also aims to discuss important issues related to sexual education at various stages of human development and emphasize the importance of a healthy approach to sexuality and positive sexual relationships throughout life.
