The employment forum of Geography and History is looking for new professional horizons this Thursday

The next employment forum of the University of Valencia will take place in the Faculty of Geography and History this Thursday, February 23rd, and the new professional horizons will mark the session, that will count with around twenty enterprises and institutions in the exhibition, and a nutritious academical program of debates and talks about cultural mediation, history and editorial world, archaeology, employment search techniques or development cooperation, among many other topics.

The Forum will open its doors at 09:30h in the Joan Fuster conference hall with the inaugural conference led by Luis Noguerol, administrator of the Valencian enterprise of sociocultural services Culturama, who will reflect about “professional itineraries from the cultural and social-educative mediation”.

Next, in the same room, there will be an informative round table about the services that, regarding employment and entrepreneurship, situates the University of Valencia at the students’ reach. In it we will find The International Relations and Cooperation Service, the Chair of Business Culture, UVemprén, UVjob and the Research Management Service.

Afterwards (11:30h), it will be time for the institutional act of the forum’s presentation led by the rector of the University of Valencia, Maria Vicenta Mestre, and the dean of Geography and History, Josep Montesinos. Consecutively, there will be a visit to the more than twenty stands that will be installed outside the facilities until 14:00h.

Organized by the Vice-rectorate of Permanent Formation, Teaching Transformation and Employment of the University of Valencia, through UVemployment and the UV General Foundation, this new meeting with the professional world intends to boost and promote the employability of the future graduates of the Faculty of Geography and History, connecting the student body and the employment opportunities that offer the documental, archival, academic and educative sectors, therefore it will count with, in between the participant enterprises and institutions, Active Valencia Foundation, LABORA-GVA, and the Association of Archivists and Managers of Valencian Documents, apart from professional associations, centres of competition preparation, research chairs and union organizations.

Once at this point, the most important moment of the date with the professional world, UVemployment recommends that, before the possibility of direct interaction with the participant institutions, the people on an active search for employment should review their CVs, prepare a short introduction of themselves and look for information about the enterprises, specially those that can be of professional interest to you.

Job search techniques and career opportunities

The academic sessions will happen throughout the entire day and will be aimed at the career opportunities and the job search techniques of each one of the diplomas offered by the Faculty, bachelors and master’s.

This way, during the morning session, the students of the master’s degree in Environmental and Territorial Management Techniques will meet (12:00h) to talk on a round table about the techniques and tactics for the professional insertion, a process that starts will applying for the job going through the job offer and the job interview.

The Master’s Degree in Developed Aid will organize, on their side, the round table “working in Developed Aid after MCAD: an approximation from former students” (13:00h), that will count with the participation of graduate students.

And the master’s degrees in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage will be focusing on “The career opportunities of Archaeology and the management of Heritage” (13:00h), covering the professional and research profiles that are currently required.

Already in the afternoon, the Degree in Geography and the Environment, will try to answer the question about what to do once you finish superior studies (15:00h), in an informative session in which there will also be graduate students to share their experiences in studies and practice of the profession during the debate that will open afterwards (17:00h).

The Degree in Information and Documentation will lead the round table “Information and Documentation: organization and professional horizons” (16:00h); and the Degree in History, the table “History and Editorial World” (16:00h).

The Master’s degree in Contemporary History and in History and Identities in the Western Mediterranean (15th to 19th C.)  will share impressions about how to prepare better to work better and the key to continue your academic formation with a master’s degree (16:45h); the Master’s Degree in History of Art and Visual Culture, along with the Degree in History of Art, organize the table “Jobs of history of art: research, dissemination and management” (17:00h): whilst the Master’s Degree in History of the formation of the Western World will speak about “Researching archives, writing history” and the career opportunities of these studies (17:30h)

The debates, the round tables and the talks will take place in different parts of the Faculty according to the program.

The UV Forums

The Employment and Entrepreneurship Forums of the UV are organized by the vice-rectorate of Permanent Formation, Teaching Transformation and Employment, through UVemployment and the UV General Foundation, in collaboration with the faculties and centres. Its main goal is the professional insertion of the university community. Furthermore, the employment service team of the University of Valencia offers services of orientation, counselling, formation in techniques of job search and training in professional projection.

The forums program is on its second decade of trajectory and each edition aims to promote the employment of the student body and graduated people, offer the opportunity to establish direct contact with enterprises, institutions and administrations, and organize talks, workshops and formative exchanges to learn the most required profiles and the current working fields.
