The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: The ATENLEC group uses the rigorous methodology of experimental psychology in the study of cognitive processes such as perception, attention or memory to then devise new ways of applying basic knowledge in everyday life situations, particularly reading or acquiring information from traffic signs or other visual devices. To do this, it uses advanced research techniques to obtain behavioural data (for example, virtual environments in a simulator or computerised laboratory experiments) and physiological records (for example, eye movements, heart rate or encephalography recordings). The studies of the ATENLEC group contribute to theoretical progress and practical application in areas related to cognitive ergonomics, aimed both at people with specific difficulties (for example, dyslexia) and the general population. The ATENLEC group belongs to the ERI-Reading (https://www.uv.es/lectura) of the University of Valencia.

Research lines: - Adult dyslexia.The ATENLEC group conducts studies to assess the difficulties of adults with dyslexia in everyday life tasks (e.g., in processing textual information on visual devices) to develop countermeasures that compensate for inequalities
- Traffic sign ergonomics.The ATENLEC group conducts studies on how drivers process information provided by road signs with text and/or icons and evaluates the effects of design modifications to optimise detection, identification, understanding, recall and decision-making
- Visual device ergonomics.The ATENLEC group carries out research on the processing of information presented by visual devices (tablets, mobile phones, etc.) and evaluates the effects of modifications aimed at optimising their use (e.g. as an aid while driving).
- Multimodal processing.The ATENLEC group studies the integration of information received from different sensory modalities in everyday tasks (e.g., the integration of textual information presented on variable signals with audio messages received through on-board devices).
- Tasks automation and attention.The ATENLEC group analyses information processing and mental effort in everyday multitasking situations that involve reading, for example, to determine the attention demands of each task and the conditions that enable performance of the different tasks to be optimised.
