Objectives

• To stimulate the study of Chemistry among young students.
• To reward effort and academic excellence.
• To disseminate Chemistry and serve as a meeting point between secondary school education and the University.

Participants

The Chemistry Olympiad is open to all students from high schools enrolled in Chemistry subject during the 2024-2025 academic year in the 1st or 2nd year of the Spanish upper secondary school education (Bachillerato).

Students will have to register in advance on the website of the Delegation for University Entrance.

Calendar of Activities of the Local Phase of the Chemistry Olympiad

Due to the devastating effects caused by the DANA in the southern part of the province of Valencia, the local committee of the Chemistry Olympiad has decided to postpone the pre-selection test to Friday 13th December 2024.

• Preselection Test. The time and place of the test will be communicated to registrants in due course. A team of 16-20 students will be selected.

• Training seminar, for preselected students, lasting 48 hours (12 sessions of 4 hours each). The training will be given in classroom F-1.3 of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Valencia from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting on December 13, 2024. (full schedule in the Results section)
• Local Phase Test. It will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in a classroom to be determined at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Valencia. The classroom and test schedule will be communicated in a timely manner. The Local Phase of the Olympiad will be held simultaneously in all public universities in the Valencian Community.

National Phase of the Chemistry Olympiad

The rules for participation in the National Phase of the Chemistry Olympiad will be established by the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) and the Ministry of Education. The team of students that each university will send to this National Phase will be designated among the winning students of the Local Phase.
