"Joan Reglà" Humanities Library has organised, with the invaluable collaboration of the Departament de Filologia Catalana, Professor Emili Casanova and Professor Vicent A. Moreno, a virtual exhibition on the figure of Manuel Sanchis Guarner.
This virtual exhibition is being held on the occasion of the symposium commemorating the 40th anniversary of his death. We want to remember and make known to the new generations the tireless work of the master Sanchis, who laid the foundations for the recovery of language in education, in the media and in the administration. Manuel Sanchis Guarner was the father and founder of Valencian philology, the first Valencian scholar of the language, respected all over Europe, the introducer of Valencian in official university studies and the first university professor of Valencian.
The purpose of the exhibition is to analyse the linguistic and didactic orientations of his work. In addition, we want to show the practical experiences of his teachings and to bring Don Manuel closer to the current situation and set him as an example for present and future generations. And, above all, we would especially like to highlight his way of teaching Valencian with consensus, harmony, tolerance and a desire for integration.
