On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., the Sala Duc de Calàbria of the Biblioteca Històrica in the Centre Cultural La Nau will host the presentation of the research project called Tesoro messicano. This initiative is in collaboration with the Biblioteca Històrica of the University of Valencia.

The Tesoro messicano project aims to create a worldwide census of all existing copies of Francisco Hernández's work, Rerum Medicarum Novae Hispaniae Thesaurus, a key piece of 16th-century scientific literature on the medicinal plants of the New World.

This academic event aims to inform about the study work that will be carried out in collaboration with renowned international researchers. Among them are the Italian researcher Maria Eugenia Cadeddu, from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, and Dr. Marco Guardo, director of the Biblioteca dell’Accademia dei Lincei e Corsiniana.

The presentation of the project will be a unique opportunity to learn about the details of this ambitious research project, which seeks to preserve and catalog a work of great historical and scientific relevance. All interested parties are invited to attend this academic event to deepen their understanding of Francisco Hernández’s legacy and his contribution to the knowledge of medicine and botany in the New World.
