The General Foundation of the University of Valencia, of the Valencian Community, in accordance with the provisions of article 8 of its Statutes, has the fundamental mission of cooperating in the fulfillment of the purposes of the University of Valencia.
This is a task that is carries out through the Management request of the Universitat de València, which it develops through three large areas of action and its general services.
The experience and knowledge of the sociocultural, educational, and teaching environment provide the General Foundation of the University of Valencia with the necessary tools to act as a bridge between the University of Valencia and society, facilitating knowledge transfer, dissemination, cultural democratization, training, solidarity, and inclusion.
Areas of activity
- Culture and Education, which encompasses the Area of Musical Activities (Philharmonic Orchestra of the Universitat de València, the University Choir of València, the Choir School of La Nau, the Coral Club of La Nau Gran and the Colla de Dolçaines), Contemporary Art and management of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Collection and Exhibitions (Plastic Arts), Cultural and Scientific Heritage (heritage cataloging and restoration programs), Performing Arts (theater and dance), Escena Erasmus UV (the University of Valencia's European theater project), the Cinema Club, the Cultural Volunteering (university and citizen participation), UVgandia (Summer University of Gandia, postgraduate and courses), the Cultural Observatory of the University of Valencia and the Language Center of the University of Valencia.
- University Services, by La Tenda UV, Alumni UV (the group of friends and alumni of the University of Valencia), the European Documentation Centre (information and documentation on the EU), InfoSud (the Documentation Centre on Cooperation), the Digital Library, the Futura Project – University Integration, and the UV Summer School (Nau Menuda and Nau Jove).
- Social Inclusion, with UVdiscapacitat (the Unit for the Integration of People with Disabilities of the University of Valencia) and the University Centre for Diagnosis and Early Intervention (CUDAP).
General Services
General Services provide management and administrative, legal, IT, and marketing and communications assistance to the three Areas of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València and several Universitat de València programmes and projects following the request of the academic institution. The General Services of the General Foundation of the University of Valencia are:
- Management, which coordinates and supervises the planning and execution of all programs and projects, ensuring compliance with the foundation's objectives; it manages relations with the Governing Body, the Board of Trustees, and ensures compliance with the agreements adopted by them, among other executive and institutional tasks.
- Administration (Accounting and Tax, Human Resources, Occupational Risk Prevention, and Treasury), dedicated to accounting, tax, budget control, and personnel management, among other functions.
- Legal, which prepares legal opinions and issues rulings on various civil, commercial, and administrative matters, as well as on the specific regulations of the foundation sector.
- Information Technology, which provides technical and IT support to all departments, programs, and areas of the General Foundation of the University of Valencia.
- Marketing and Communication, which designs and develops marketing, image, advertising, communication, and dissemination activities for the Foundation's projects and initiatives.
Constitution of the Foundation
The General Foundation of the Universitat de València, of the Valencian Community, registered in the Record of Foundation of the Valencian Community, was created by the Universitat de València on June 15, 1983, thanks to initial funds given by Joaquín Maldonado Almenar.
