Who can use UVdiscapacidad services?

We serve students with disabilities, mental health disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia), communication and language disorders, chronic illnesses, and any other duly accredited circumstance that requires support or accommodations.

How to request accommodations?

1. Request an appointment with UVdiscapacidad by calling us at +34 96 398 34 26 or sending an email to updestudiantes@uv.es.

2. Prepare your documentation. Gather updated medical, psychological, psycho-pedagogical, or other professional reports to accredit your diagnosis. If applicable, also provide your complete disability certificate.

3. Attend the initial interview with UVdiscapacidad. We will assess your needs and guide you on the available accommodations and resources, in accordance with the Accommodations Protocol of the Universitat de València.

4. Authorize sending the Technical Accommodations Report (ITA Report) to your teaching staff. You will receive an authorization form at your @alumni.uv.es email. Once you complete the survey, we will send the report with the agreed accommodations to your instructors via Aula Virtual.

In subsequent academic years, you will not need to repeat the interview. You will receive a link at your @alumni.uv.es email to renew your authorization.

The general deadline to request accommodations is November 15th. If you are a newly admitted student, the deadline may be extended until February 28th. If your situation arises outside this timeframe, please consult with the service.

What types of accommodations are available?

Accommodations are evaluated on an individual basis, according to your needs and the characteristics of your degree program. They may include:

  • Exams: Extra time, scheduled breaks, enlarged font on exam papers.
  • Practicum, Bachelor's Thesis (TFG), and Master's Thesis (TFM): Tutors are informed of the student's needs and the agreed reasonable adjustments.
  • Technical and/or personal resources (contact upd@uv.es to request them). The resources we offer are:
    • Computer for exams
    • Support staff
    • Classroom adaptations
    • Accessible exams and materials
    • Equipment loan
    • Access to UV parking facilities
    • Sign language interpreter (ILS)

IMPORTANT: Accommodations guarantee equal opportunities, but they do not modify the learning outcomes or assessment criteria of the subjects.

Support and exams management

The use of a computer during exams must be evaluated beforehand during the initial interview and included in the adaptation report.

When this adaptation is authorized, UVdiscapacitat will inform you whether the computer will be provided by the corresponding faculty/center or by UVdiscapacitat.

  • If the computer is provided by the center, you must:
    • Request the computer from the corresponding center via the email address shown in the following infographic.
    • Inform the teaching staff that you have requested the computer from the center.
  • If the computer is provided by UVdiscapacitat, you must:
    • Request the computers for the exams by emailing upd@uv.es.
    • Inform the teaching staff that you have requested the computer from UVdiscapacitat.

In both cases, the request must include all exam details: date, time, classroom, building, subject, and teaching staff. This information is necessary to properly organize the required support.

If you need to use a computer during an exam

The use of a computer during exams must be evaluated beforehand during the initial interview. Once this accommodation is authorized, the computer may be provided either by the corresponding faculty/school or by UVdiscapacidad, depending on the student's needs.

  • If the computer is provided by the faculty/school, the request must be sent to the corresponding faculty/school.
  • If the computer is provided by UVdiscapacidad, the request must be sent to upd@uv.es.

In both cases, the request must include all exam details: date, time, classroom, building, subject, and teaching staff. This information is necessary to properly organize the support.

IMPORTANT: Students are not allowed to use their personal computers, nor will they have access to the Internet, spell checkers, or any other tools not authorized for the rest of the students during exams.
