International Day for the elimination of violence against women at the University of Valencia

The feminist sociologist, author of the Comprehensive Law against Gender Violence 1/2004 and the Law of Effective Equality between Women and Men 3/2007 visits the University of València at the closing of the acts, which on the occasion of the International Day against violence against women, have been scheduled throughout the month of November.
Professor of the Department of Sociology and Communication at the University of Salamanca, Soledad Murillo will give the lecture Autonomy, an antidote to violence in the Aula Magna de La Nau, Cultural Center on Thursday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. She has been General Secretary for Equality Policies of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs between 2004-2008, occupying the first political position on equality in the government. She is currently a member of the United Nations Anti-Discrimination Committee for Women, CEDAW.
III Prize “Olga Quiñones
Before Soledad Murillo's conference, the vice-rector for Culture and Equality will read the institutional manifesto and announce the announcement of the third edition of the “Olga Quiñones” Award in memory and honor of the teacher, first director of the Equality Unit, with which is awarded for the best end of degree and end of Master's work and, as of this year, also for a Doctorate that incorporates the gender perspective and that promotes equality.
Five minutes of silence and release of balloons to the three campuses
Despite the fact that the institutional act is advancing to November 24 in La Nau, on the same day November 25 they have been convened at 12 noon, concentrations of five minutes of silence for the victims of gender violence in the three campuses of University. The doors of the Rector's Office on the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, the Faculty of Economics on the Tarongers Campus and in front of the Burjassot Campus cafeteria are the three meeting points for the five minutes of silence. This year it has also been possible to include a release of balloons, to fill them with purple and black and make visible the social scourge that is gender violence.
