The wage gap is an object of study increasingly addressed in gender research. There are multiple dimensions that can be directly or indirectly related to this issue: the different uses of time of women and men, problems of reconciling personal, family and work life and co-responsibility between both sexes, as well as equality of opportunities and obstacles to the incorporation of women into decision-making bodies. Analyzing all the edges of this issue of wage inequality leads us to speak in the plural of "gender gaps", which would include both the wage gap, the care gap and the time gap.
The realization of this day has allowed us to address these issues at the University of Valencia, has been an opportunity to share knowledge and experience of people who do research and are leaders in the field. Specifically, Professor Capitolina Díaz Martínez and Professor Carles Xavier Simó Noguera, both from the University of Valencia, have co-directed a European project to study the wage and family and domestic work gap in the field of gender inequalities. which brings together a total of seven institutions -University of Valencia, Complutense University of Madrid, Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of the Basque Country, Polytechnic of Cartagena, University of Iceland and the Norwegian Center for Social Research. The first round table included some of the people who took part in this project, presenting the results and conclusions. The second round table was attended by social actors from the trade union and business world, talking about the wage gap from a more professional perspective. In addition, we have had the presence of the Director General of Labor and Labor Welfare of the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labor, highlighting the position of the public administration to address the problem of the gap salary.
