You can search books, journals, dictionaries, encyclopedias, theses, audiovisual materials, etc. in the catalogue of the University of Valencia's libraries, Trobes. You can search by any word in the field, by author, or by subject (always in Valencian). For example:

Journals
You can search electronic journals suscribed by the library by title, subject area and subcategories. Click here to see the list of journals on Earth Sciences and Environment. To browse more journals or full-text articles directly, you can use the search engine Recolecta. You can also use Dialnet, which provides summaries of journals and in some cases full text.

Dictionaries and encyclopedies

• Dictionary of Geography - Oxford Reference Online: it contains more than 6000 entries on physical and human geography.
• Atlapedia Online: it contains full colour physical maps, political maps as well as statistics on countries of the world.
• Dictionary of abbreviations and acronyms in GIS, cartography and remote sensing: created by  Philip Hoehny and Mary Lynette Larsgaard, from the University of California.
• Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Online: dictionary of place names. It contains approximately one million entries with information about their location, historical names, etc.
• GeoNames: base de dades amb més de 8 milions de topònims. Permet la descàrrrega de les dades en diversos formats.

General resources

• Geografía e Historia- Recursos en internet: excellent selection of resources compiled by Jesús Angel Sanz Salido, secondary school teacher in Valladolid.
• GeoResources: web portal for teachers and students that collects resources sorted by subjects, created by David Rayner.
• About.com- Geography: selection of resources compiled by geographer Matt Rosenberg.
• NationMaster: International database that collects human and economic geography information from sources such as the CIA World Factbook, United Nations, World Health Organization, UNESCO, UNICEF and the OECD. It allows to compare each country graphically and make global or subject-based enquiries.

Institutes and entities

• Instituto Geográfico Nacional: under the Ministry for Public Works, it is the national geographic information centre, and is entrusted with the physical observation of the territory and its cartographic expression, as well as the observation, quantification and analysis of the different physical fields of the Earth. It provides extensive data on seismology, geodesy, geomagnetism, gravimetry, etc.
• Infraestructura de datos espaciales de España: under the Consejo Superior Geográfico (High Geographic Council), IDEE aims to integrate through the Internet geographic data, metadata, services and information produced in Spain, at national, regional and local level, in accordance with their respective legal frameworks.
• Instituto Cartográfico Valenciano: under the Generalitat Valenciana, it was created to promote the technological progress of geographic information in the Valencian Community, used in areas such as infrastructures, tourism, environment, emergency management, education, territorial planning and agricultural resources, among others. In the Resources section you will find links to websites about cartography, topography and photogrammetry, cartographic institutes and services, geographic information services, etc.
• Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente: website of the Spanish Ministry, with sections about rural environment, environmental quality and assessment, water, coasts, etc. You can see the cartography and GIS of  the environment and the rural and marine environment.
• FAO: website of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
• European Environment Agency: portal de esta agencia europea con numerosa información sobre el cambio climático.
• World Tourism Organization: website of this UN organization.
• Red de bibliotecas del Ministerio de Defensa: library network of the Ministry for Defence.

• International Monetary Fund-IMF: page specialized in economic geography, allows you to consult its main publications.

• Atlas d'Histoire de l'Europe: atlas of Europe from the year 1 to 2000, in French and English.
• Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World: classical antiquity maps. Project by The American Philological Association's Classical Atlas Project and Princeton University.
• Historical Atlas of the Twentieth Century: historical maps of the 20th century, some are interactive.
• Atlas de historia de Aragón: project by the "Fernando el Católico" Institution and the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the University of Zaragoza. 
• Ancient World Mapping Center: project by the University of North Carolina with resources on historical cartography.
• Perry Castañeda Library-Map Collection: historical maps section at the University of Texas library.
• Oriental Institut Map Series: old maps of the Middle East, by the University of Chicago.
