La Biblioteca de Ciències Socials Gregori Maians is celebrating a quarter of a century of service to the university community. Inaugurated in 1999, it is the result of a project that began in the early 1990s and was developed by architects Giorgio Grassi and Manuel Portaceli, making it one of the most representative works of 20th-century Valencian architecture.

Over the past 25 years, the library has undergone continuous transformation. Its spaces and infrastructure have been adapted to new ways of learning and collaborative work; its collections have grown and diversified to meet the broad range of disciplines within the social sciences; technology has reshaped the services, facilitating access to information and digital tools; and both students and researchers have found in the library an increasingly specialized and supportive resource.

The 25th-anniversary celebration will take place on Thursday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m., in the lobby of the Biblioteca del Campus dels Tarongers at the Universitat de València. The event will include speeches by Carlos Hermenegildo, Vice-Rector for Research; Cristina Tomás, Director of the Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació; and the library’s director, Amelia López.

Following the opening speeches, there will be a toast with cava and a musical performance by the group RockAddiction, bringing the celebration to a festive close.

The entire university community is invited to join us in celebrating this very special anniversary.
