Standardisation of the scientific signatura
Standardisation of the scientific signatura

In the Governing Council held on 7 March 2023, the document Standardisation of the scientific signature of the authors of the Universitat de València, on the standardisation of the scientific signature and institutional affiliation, drawn up by the Libraries and Documentation Service, was approved.

This document is addressed to:

  • Teaching and research staff of the Universitat de València.
  • Research support staff of the Universitat de València.
  • Doctoral students and pre-doctoral staff, when they publish articles that are part of their doctoral degree or thesis by compendium.
  • Teaching and research staff of centres and institutes affiliated to the Universitat de València.
  • Visiting teaching and research staff from other universities or research centres.

Regarding the affiliation, the authors of the UV must always include the Universitat de València when they have to enter their affiliation data in their scientific production (research articles, books, papers and other publications). The document gives several examples of both single and multiple affiliation cases (departments, institutes, hospitals, non-affiliated centres, etc.).

With regard to the author's name, it is recommended to choose the signature that most clearly and univocally identifies the researcher and allows his/her scientific production to be located without errors. The use of identifiers such as ORCID is also recommended.

The publication of this document aims to emphasise the need for UV research staff to have a unique signature that allows their scientific output to be located unambiguously, as well as the importance of using the correct affiliation, which gives greater visibility to the research output of the Universitat de València.
