How to insert a video in a free text

Vídeo de YouTube

Sometimes it is good to complement the illustration of texts with a video, and a task that is in principle simple becomes complicated and even impossible. The main mistake that web portal editors usually make is that they try to insert self-produced videos without having uploaded them to a multimedia platform to obtain a valid url.

The most common thing is to go to the YouTube platform to spread the videos. Once the video is available on YouTube, during its reproduction we can obtain an insertion code by clicking on the right button of the mouse (image above). If we want to use this video to illustrate a text on one of the University's web portals, we will open the Free Text (TL) chosen, and paste the insertion code that we have previously obtained from the Youtube platform into the desired place in the text.
However, it should be borne in mind that the process of pasting the code into the TL must be done in HTML, an option that can be found at the top left of the TL toolbar (image attached). Once the video code has been inserted, click on the 'HTML source' option again and the video will be played at the desired location.
Another way to get the embed code of the video on the YouTube platform is to click on the 'Share' tab located at the bottom right of the playback screen, and a menu will open with several sharing options. Choose 'Insert', and immediately a field will open with the embed code (images 2, 3 and 4) that we have to copy and transfer to the TL (free text), as described above.

Videos from the Universitat de València's Mediauni platform can also be used with the same procedure, although Mediauni uses the 'share>insert' option offered by the right-click menu.
