Academic, scientific or professional interest:

The double degree in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering provides students with a solid theoretical and practical training in these two disciplines.

Chemistry is the science that studies the composition, synthesis, properties, behaviour and reactivity of matter. Chemical Engineering applies knowledge and developments to the transformation of raw materials into useful and higher value products manufactured at industrial level. The complementarity of the two disciplines enables the training of professionals with the capacity to cover the needs of the chemical industry and to provide solutions to problems related to health, food, energy and the environment, among others, contributing to the constant progress of society.

The profile of the graduates, chemists with solid knowledge of engineering and engineers with solid knowledge of chemistry, is ideal for research, project development, product and process design, production and management of production activities, as well as for teaching in baccalaureate, vocational training and university education.

This double degree qualifies students to exercise the regulated profession of Industrial Technical Engineer and has the support of the Chemical and Environmental Association of the Chemical Sector of the Valencian Community (QUIMACOVA). In addition, both the Degree in Chemistry and the Degree in Chemical Engineering of the University of Valencia have been recognised according to international quality standards with the award of the EuroBachelor® and Eur-Ace® International Seals.

Worth Noting:

The planning of these studies makes it possible to obtain the degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in only five years and with a reasonable annual dedication (between 63 and 69 credits/course).

Theoretical subjects include practical problem-solving classes in small groups of students that facilitate their study and understanding and contribute to the overall assessment. In the experimental laboratories, students acquire competence in the application of measurement techniques, the use of instrumentation and industrial equipment and data analysis. Work is carried out in small groups with personalised attention from the teaching staff and an active and practical role for students.

This double degree includes the completion of compulsory external work placements, which means a first insertion into the working environment. Students can also enjoy an international experience in study and internship exchange programmes. The final degree project allows students to integrate and apply the competences acquired and increase transversal skills such as interaction with professionals or the writing of scientific and technical documentation.
