Frontières (Apolline Traoré, 2017)

On such important dates for African and Afro-descendant women  —25 June, International Day of Afro-descendant Women and 31 July, Inrwenational Day of African Women—, Aula Cine, ISCOD and CIM Burkina organise a special session for cinema made by and for African and Afro-descendant women.

Playing the movie Frontières (Apolline Traoré, 2017), we will have the participation of Beatriz Mbula and Ángela Nzambi to reflect on and discuss representation, experience and challenges African and Afro-descendant women face.

Frontières tells the story of four women from different Western Africa countries that meet while crossing borders to reach Bamako, Mali. They face obstacles, dangers and prejudice, and they share their stories, their fears and hopes, creating a sorority amidst the uncertain. This film is a tribute for African women’s strength, resilience and solidarity against adversity.
