To study a degree at the Universitat de València, students who come from educational systems of European Union countries, international baccalaureate or countries with reciprocal agreement, have to carry out the following procedures for university access:

  1. Obtain an UNEDasiss accreditation or access certification, which includes the applicant's university entrance grade (NAU). Responsible: UNEDasiss.
  2. To increase the university entrance grade, follow one of the procedures provided. Responsible: UNEDasiss.
  3. To participate in the process of access and admission to the Universitat de València, by applying for a place in the pre-enrolment procedure common to the five Valencian public universities. Responsible: Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment.
  4. Once you have obtained a place in the pre-enrolment, formalise your enrolment at the University of Valencia.

1. UNEDasiss acces certificate

UNEDasiss, a service of the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), responsible for evaluating the academic records of international students, issuing the accreditation that allows them to apply for a place through pre-enrolment and taking the tests to gain access to undergraduate studies at Spanish universities.

Therefore, the first step that students from European Union countries, international baccalaureate or countries with a reciprocal agreement must take is to apply to UNEDasiss for a certificate or accreditation of the pre-university studies completed in their country of origin. This accreditation will have a maximum score of 10 points and is equivalent to the university entrance grade (NAU).

  • Access UNEDasiss web to apply for Spanish universities access certificate.
  • If you has any doubt of this or any other UNEDasiss process, you can make an appointment for in-person or online assistance on UNEDasiss contact.

2. Raise the University Entrance Grade

It is important to know, especially if you want to access some degrees with high demand, that access to university is calculated on the basis of 14 points. Thus, if you want to increase your initial entry mark, there are two possible ways to get up to 4 more points and opt to reach the 14 points. Both are optional and compatible with each other:

Specific Competences Tests (PCE)

PCE are UNEDasiss-organised exams for foreign students to increase their university entrance grade. They may choose up to 6 subjects from the subject list UNEDasiss provides.

For the choice of subjects, it is necessary to take into account the weighting system applied to the marks obtained in the PCE for the calculation of the access mark. Thus, depending on the degree you want to study, it is advisable to choose the subjects with the highest weighting to try to achieve a higher access mark.

  • Check, on this page, the section on Calculation of the access mark for more details on the weighting system.

Location, application period and dates

The exams for the specific competencies tests (PCE) can be taken at any of the UNEDasiss centres in different countries. The registration period usually starts in February and the exams are usually held in May (these are estimated dates).

Check the UNEDasiss website for the locations and dates of the PCE established for each academic year.

Subject and mark recognition from outside evaluation

Students who have studied abroad can apply to UNEDasiss for recognition of the subjects taken as long as they can accredit that they have been examined in external assessment tests organised by entities in their country of origin and that these have been carried out outside the study centre where they have studied. The subjects assessed in external tests and the grades obtained will be expressly stated in the accreditation issued by UNEDasiss.

Other qualifications that have not been obtained through this type of test will not be accepted.

Only subjects passed with a mark equal to or higher than 5 points will be considered, both from the specific skill exams (PCE) and from the recognition of subjects examined in external assessment tests.

3. Access and admission procedure to the Universitat de València.

To take part in the admission procedure for undergraduate studies at the Universitat de València, you have to apply for a place through pre-enrolment.

Pre-registration is the procedure used to allocate places on the degree courses offered by the five Valencian public universities and is managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment. Each student submits only one pre-enrolment application to study at any of the Valencian public universities.

In the pre-enrolment process, students who apply for a place in a degree programme are ordered according to their access score, from highest to lowest, and places are allocated to each degree programme in this order until all places are taken..

  • Language requirements. Check the requirements in the following document Pre-registration in conditioned degrees [PDF].
  • Pre-registration deadline. It goes from middle of June to the first week of July.
  • Pre-inscription results. The results are announces throughout July and can be consulted in the same app for the pre-registration.
  • Access to the pre-registration form: http://www.preinscripcion.gva.es

Universitat de València Access mark calculation

Spanish university access máximum mark is 14.

For the calculation of the admission mark for a specific degree programme (NAT), the following is taken into account:

  1. The accreditation score issued by UNEDasiss. Maximum: up to 10 points. Equivalent to the university entrance mark (NAU).
  2. The points obtained for the weightings of two of the subjects passed in the specific competency tests (PCE) or two subjects recognised in external assessment tests. Maximum: up to 4 more points, in order to be eligible for the 14 points (maximum score for university admission).

How are the weightings applied? The weightings are coefficients that multiply two of the marks obtained in the subjects passed in the PCE or two of the subjects recognised in external assessment tests. The weightings can be: 0, 0.1 or 0.2 and are established according to the relationship between the subjects and a specific grade. The subject weighting tables are set by each university for each of its degree programmes. If a subject has no relation to a degree, there is no weighting for it.

Therefore, before choosing the subjects of the ECP for the examinations, it is advisable to consult the weightings for the corresponding course and, from these, to select the subjects with the highest weighting (0.2).

Mark threshold

The Universitat de València does not require a specific mark for the admission of students to the different degrees. The ‘mark threshold’ refers to the grade of the last student who obtained a place in a specific degree in the previous academic year. It is an indicative figure that varies depending on the demand for each degree programme.
