  • Joan Baptista Mengual i Llull, better known by his literary pseudonym Isa Tròlec, (Sanet y los Negrales, Marina Alta, December 14, 1945 - Valencia, L'Horta, June 26, 1992) was a Valencian psychiatrist and writer. He holds degrees in Medicine and Philosophy and Educational Sciences, Psychology, from the University of Valencia. After several years in various European hospitals in Parma, Vienna, Oxford, and Gothenburg, he earned his specialist degree in Psychiatry in 1974.
    Professionally, he held increasingly prominent positions: psychopedagogical advisor in various schools and at the El Cau Center for Autism, psychiatrist at the Juvenile Court of Valencia, director of the Guidance and Diagnostic Center of the Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Valencia, and head of the Health Service at the Territorial Directorate of Health and Consumer Affairs. In 1976, she won the Andrómina Prize for fiction with her novel, Ramona Rosbif, and in 1977, the Ciutat d´Alacant Prize with Mari Catúfols.
