Erasmus Week

This week the libraries of the University of Valencia have received the visit of five European librarians within the ERASMUS PAS program. Katerina Katsaouni and Foteini Polymeraki from the University of Macedonia, Rosa Maria G. Silva, from the Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Viseu, Jolanta Magdalena Rosiak from the Uniwersytet Wrocławski de Breslàvia and Noemi Milei from the library of the University of Debrecen (Hungary), have toured our facilities for five days getting to know our buildings and services.

The first day they spent the morning in the Social Sciences Library, where they toured the building admiring the seven floors full of books and students. They then had a working meeting with the research support team, who shared a presentation about their work.

The second day was the turn of Central Sections, in the La Nave building, where the director of the service, Cristina Tomás Martínez, received them together with the rest of the colleagues from the different sections of the SBD. We introduced them to the organization chart and structure of the SBD and then they explained some things about their libraries and universities. Finally, they finished the morning with a presentation of the web, marketing and virtual reference services.

The librarians especially enjoyed the visit on Wednesday 15 to the Map Library, where the staff showed them some old maps and plans of Greece, Hungary, Poland, and Portugal. Afterwards, they visited the Humanities Library, where the training staff explained everything we do in the UV libraries in this area.

The fourth day was the turn of the Burjassot Campus. In the Science Library they took a guided tour and were able to learn everything we do in the libraries related to the SDGs. Then they visited the Natural History Museum, where they made a complete tour of its scientific collections.

Today they returned to La Nave to visit the Historical Library, where they were surprised with the collections and funds that we house and the outreach activities we carry out. After a farewell coffee with the library staff, where they received some gifts from the director, they attended a presentation by the quality management section.

A very enriching week both for them and for the staff of the libraries of the Universitat de València.
