Open Access Week 2021
Open Access Week 2021

The week of October 25-29, Open Access Week is celebrated around the world. The purpose of this global event is to spread the benefits of open publishing among the academic community, encouraging researchers to share experiences, good practices and strategies to achieve full open access in scientific publications. REBIUN celebrates it by sharing the events organized in the different Spanish universities.

For our part, from SBD we show you the different projects in which we are working at the UV, within the framework of open access and open science:

  • FIT-FORTHEM project funded by the European Commission (H2020)

The SBD participates since January 1, 2021 in this project, one of its objectives being the development of joint Open Science Policies to be discussed and shared with other European University Networks.

It is precisely on this objective that the SBD's contribution to the project is focused. SBD will coordinate:

  • The organization of a workshop on open access. Open science requirements, approaches and solutions.
  • Development of a common set of policies aimed at promoting the advancement of open science in FORTHEM:
  • Open access, to ensure that all research results and scientific publications from universities are available in open access following the guidelines of the EU H2020 program.
  • Open research data, ensuring that all research projects have data management plans that allow data to be available in open access and preserved to ensure future replication of the research.
  • Research evaluation, to foster understanding of the need to correctly use research evaluation indicators, for example, following the San Francisco Declaration on Research Evaluation and the need to apply alternative metric

  • BUVAL Open Science Working Group (Consortium of University Libraries of the Valencian Community).
  • Guide for the evaluation of institutional research repositories

FECYT has published the 4th ed. of the Guide for the evaluation of institutional Research repositories. The Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació is part of the working group "Evaluation of Repositories" in charge of its preparation.

Its main objective is to continue being an internal audit instrument to improve the quality of the repositories. The new criteria included in this version are aimed at highlighting the importance of the added value services that the repository must provide, emphasize digital preservation, identify projects and funding entities, and complete some sections with new criteria that provide cooperation, visibility or better control of data.
