  • October 25th, 2023

On October 24 was held the Open Science Day organized by the Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació de la Universitat de València.  The inauguration was in charge of the Rector of the University, Mavi Mestre Escrivà, together with the Vice Rector for Research, Carlos Hermenegildo Caudevilla, who presented the new Portal of Scientific Production of the University.

The director of the Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació, Cristina Tomás Martínez, highlighted the importance of open access, institutional repositories and the services we offer from the libraries to our research staff. The Roderic repository, designed to collect and disseminate the digital production generated by members of the university community in terms of culture, teaching, digital collections, and research, responds to the University's commitment to the open access to knowledge movement acquired with its adherence to the Declaration of Berlin in 2008.

The head of section of the Research Support Service, Beatriz Climent, explained the functionalities of the scientific production portal of the University. The coordinator of research support at the Biblioteca de Ciències Socials, Amelia López, presented the interviews conducted with researchers on the theme of this year's Open Access Week 'Community versus commercialization'. Rosana Toledo, from the Biblioteca de Ciències de la Salut, explained good practices in terms of open access, such as the diamond route and the prevention of editorial fraud. Alejandro Gadea, head of the information resources section, ended the day with a presentation on transformative agreements with the main publishers of scientific journals.
