The Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Valencia will host the International Conference "Participation, Neighborhood Relations, and Coexistence in Multicultural Neighborhoods" on June 19 and 20. The conference addresses coexistence, focusing on informal and formal participation in the neighborhood, neighborhood relations, and the dynamics they generate.

This topic is structured in three sessions: neighborhood relations and coexistence; spaces, participation, and neighborhood actors; and participation, dynamics, and community processes.

These aspects will be analyzed in a variety of Spanish neighborhoods, with distinct socio-urban processes. In some cases, these will involve central neighborhoods undergoing gentrification and touristification, such as Ruzafa and El Cabanyal, Valencia, and Lavapiés, Madrid; in other cases, precarious working-class peripheral neighborhoods, as in several neighborhoods in Madrid, Zaragoza, Valencia (Els Orriols), Murcia, and Tenerife, but also municipalities such as Carcaixent.
