Scientific journals use different ways to generate the revenue necessary to cover publication costs. One of those ways is “article processing charges”. An article processing charge (APC) is a fee that authors of scientific publications are sometimes charged to make their work available in open access, either in an open access journal or in a hybrid magazine.
In the health area, there are some journals from medical societies or with specific agreements that use other sources of funding and in which the publication costs are not borne by the authors.
In the “On to publish” tool of the Health Sciences Library you can consult an updated list of health journals that do not charge APCs. You can access from this link with your UV username and password.
In addition, the Universitat de València offers a relation of agreements with different publishers that provide discounts for open publishing. Check the agreements on the Research Support portal.
