The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) component, a new tool for dissemination

The Web and Marketing Unit has developed a new component that reproduces in the web publication a brochure with as many frequently asked questions (FAQ) as desired to guide users in any field of activity of the Universitat de València.

29 april 2020

The new component is a powerful dissemination tool to facilitate access to university services, whatever the field of activity, be it academic, administrative, services, use of facilities, enrolment processes, mobility, grants, applications, languages, etc.

What do the FAQs look like in publication.
1 - What do the FAQs look like in publication.

Its creation is simple. First you choose the page in the editing tree where you want to place the FAQ drop-down list, or you create a page (with its text) that will contain the new component and place it in the desired place in the editing tree. The component has a specific template of the FAQ list, and the thesaurus element that we want to reproduce in publication has to be dragged to the 'Related elements' box from the UV Thesaurus (that you will find in 'Content tree', under 'Site tree'). This thesaurus element is the same one that we have to insert to each FAQ every time we generate one of these new elements to be reproduced in the desired place. In any case, if there are difficulties when creating and placing the component you can ask for support from the Web and Marketing Unit through the form available at www.uv.es/suport

Creation of a new FAQ in the web content manager.
2 - Creation of a new FAQ in the web content manager.

Once we have the new component and we place it on the page where the FAQ has to be reproduced, we have to start generating our own questions. In the content manager, in the 'New' tab of the menu we will indicate that we are going to generate an element 'FAQ' (image 2). A tab will open with some very simple fields to fill in. Firstly 'Name', which will be the internal name with which you will later locate the FAQ in the manager, without accents or special characters such as 'ç' or 'ñ'. It is recommended that the name always begins with FAQ followed by an acronym to identify the service to which it belongs, for example 'FAQ_Doc_enrolment', which identifies a frequent question from the Doctoral School referring to the enrolment process.

Drag the Thesaure element to the corresponding box.
3 - Drag the Thesaure element to the corresponding box.

We will then write the question and answer, put a link in the box below if applicable (although it is better to use the links in the answer text box). The 'Labels' and 'UV entity' boxes can be left blank, but not the box indicating the order of publication of the new FAQ ( Specify order/priority [01 - 99]), where the desired order must be indicated. However, you can write '00', and in that case the FAQ will be reproduced in the order of publication. What you cannot do is leave this box blank. Finally, we will fill in the box 'Themes where it will be seen (Drag from the thesaurus)', where the desired element of the Thesaurus will be dumped (image 3). Don't forget to translate the FAQ into Spanish and English. Once this is done, we will save and approve it, and the FAQ will be published automatically.
