Understanding our camera and our mobile phone (2 sessions)

Do you have a wonderful camera gathering dust, or do you want your everyday phone photos to stop looking so “automatic”? Are you fascinated by the vintage look but don't know where to start? In this two-session workshop you will learn that, although technology changes, light is always the same.

In the first session, we will make a first contact, and we will understand how a picture is physically “cooked”: how does light enter into the camera and what does it do inside, what role do shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and different lenses and formats play. In the second session, we will learn to understand our mobile phone, and to use it as if it was a professional camera. We will dare to step out of the automatic mode, and to control the focus and the exposure by hand. We will learn how to edit your digital photos to achieve more creative results, and we will confirm that there are rules that work the same both in 1950 and in 2026. What do you need to bring?

1. Your camera (compact or SLR).

2. Your mobile phone with charged battery.

3. Willingness to see the world through different eyes.

"Because the best camera is not the most expensive one, but the one you know how to use to tell your own story”.
