Migrations are a part of humanity ever since homo sapiens migrated from the African continent to the rest of the world. It is a transversal event affecting every era, country and continent. In fact, quoting Nivia Brismat, the population movement across borders has become one of the most familiar phenomena of the world. In a sense, this conference aims to highlight the migratory process that radically affected the history of Spain during the 20th Century, like the Republican exile of 1939. With a perspective ‘from below’, of gender and cross-sectional, we’ll tackle on the exit routes those people went through when they were forced to flee looking for a  better life, or even just one life. We will try to undo some of the myths and common locations that are related to Spanish emigration nowadays, particularly to criminalise migrant people seeking refuge within ‘our’ borders. To showcase this, we will prepare a Past-Present mirror game that will present a series of didactic resources and strategies developed to address forced migrations from different educative levels, particularly for teachers, combining it with projections of the unavoidable future with past knowledge.
