Before the building's stairs, the Principal has read the manifesto of the CRUE, which you can consult clicking here. A text that vindicates the role of universities as active agents in the fight against all forms of violence against women.
Activities in all campuses
Different campuses, faculties and singular spaces of the academic institution have developed over the month activities regarding the 25N which have finished on Thursday 27 November with a main event focused on reflecting about new forms of digital gender-based violence. The conference, entitled "'Trampas, fakes, engaños y OnlyFans' ('Traps, fakes, tricks and OnlyFans'), addressed particularly the OnlyFans phenomenon and its connection to pornography and prostitution, from a feminist and critical point of view. Professor Berta Chulvi from the Department of Social Psychology presented and moderated the session, in which reports made by Save the Childrena and the Federation of Young Women were disclosed, with data and analysis regarding the impact of these platforms on the construction of gender roles, the hypersexualisation and the vulnerability of young women.
Moreover, in the panel session, there were young voices that are relevant in the digital world, such as Clara Burriel and Laura Barrios, in representation of the entities that made the reports, or Carla Galeaote and Mara Mariño, referents in feminist dissemination in social media. With them, it took place a collective reflection about the fragile borders among the exercise of sexual freedom, social and economic pressure, and the diverse forms of sexual violence developed online.
With this initiative, the Universitat de València reaffirms its commitment with gender equality, the prevention of violence against women and the critical education of the university community before the challenges that new digital realities present.
Furthermore, the Universitat de València will also participate in the international commemoration, with activities planned in all campuses. A wide schedule of activities, in every UV faculty, which includes exhibitions, conferences, panel discussions, debates, workshops and performative arts, helping to keep working on the prevention of gender-based violence.
