Vicent Peset Llorca (Seville, 1914 - Valencia, 1981)
Member of an illustrious family of physicians and intellectuals, Vicent Peset Llorca developed his career in Valencia. Although he preferred the laboratory, the difficult postwar conditions forced him to make a living as a psychiatrist and he began to be interested in medicine.
He focused his research on studying the medical culture around Gregori Maians. He wrote the books Mayans y los médicos, Gregori Mayans i la cultura de la il·lustració and Estudios históricos sobre la psiquiatría valenciana, among others. He published many papers in national and international journals.
Upon his death, his library was donated to the University of Valencia and it is now a fundamental part of the Historical Medical Library, which, in gratitude, is named after him.
