This exhibition brings together the works carried out by the students of 2nd year of Art History in the subject of Techniques and Conservation of Movable Goods.
Through hands-on practice, students have approached the icon not only as a devotional image, but as a material object, constructed with layers, time, and technical decisions. This exhibition highlights the importance of understanding the processes—supports, preparation, gilding, glazes, and finishes—to truly grasp how a work is created and preserved. Reinterpreting the icon today also means stepping into the shoes of the artisan, embracing the patience of the process, and understanding the meaning of each gesture. In each piece on display, tradition and learning engage in a dialogue: respect for an ancient visual language and the contemporary perspective of those who reconstruct it from experience. The result is an invitation to see with new eyes: to understand the work from within, through its technique, its fragility, and its enduring nature.
