The aim of the exhibition “122 novels about the Spanish Civil War written by women (1990-2025)” is to make visible the female narrative production about the Spanish Civil War and Francoism published in the last 35 years.

The time frame 1990-2025 has been used because it coincides with the moment of editorial, academic and critical consolidation of the memorial narrative in Spain and its expansion in the international sphere.

The project incorporates a fundamental pedagogical dimension. 161 students from the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years participated in the courses Contemporary Spanish Readings (group B and group IN2), coordinated by Professor Luz C. Souto (Degree in Hispanic Studies), and Commentary on Literary Texts in French, coordinated by Professor Rita Rodríguez (Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures). The result is 122 video reviews, now available free of charge.

The virtual exhibition 122 novels about the Spanish Civil War written by women (1990-2025) arises within the framework of the educational innovation project “Memory, female literature and archive. The incorporation of databases and video reviews in Philology classrooms” (PIEE 3897928) and is linked to the research developed in the Memory Novels Lab Database.
