The first-floor room is a bright, open-plan space that formerly housed the periodicals collection. The shift to electronic resources has allowed for the removal of shelving units and print journals, freeing up space to add more study stations and adapt the room to users' current needs.
This renovation gave rise to the Biblioteca Viva (Living Library) project, which repurposes the old built-in shelving units for decorative and display purposes, incorporating greenery and elements that enhance well-being. The goal is to create a more comfortable, healthy, and welcoming study environment.
Key new features include:

• Plants, which serve as decoration and help improve air quality.
• Storage elements (coat racks and numbered boxes), designed to help users organize their belongings and study more comfortably.
• Display space, intended to showcase posters, illustrations, and other materials related to the activities of the library and the UV's health sciences centers.

The exhibition program kicks off with a display of the winning comics from Fisiocómic, a competition focused on physiological processes that has been held since 2021 for university students studying physiology. The contest is organized by CEU San Pablo University, the Autonomous University of Madrid, and the University of Valencia.
