“Quien sólo sabe de medicina, ni de medicina sabe" José de Letamendi

On April 16th, to mark Book Day, the Pelegrí Casanova Health Sciences Library—together with the University’s Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, and Podiatry, the Valencian Association of Medical Students (AVEM), and the Culture Committee of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry—is organizing an event dedicated to promoting books and reading among health sciences students.

From 9:00 a.m. until closing time, a space for exchanging literary books will be set up in the Library, allowing anyone to "release" and pick up books.

At 6:00 p.m., in the lobby of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, we will host a literary café titled Reading in the Training of Health Professionals. This will be an open discussion on the importance of reading and books in the education of doctors and other health professionals, as well as the obstacles that currently exist to developing and maintaining a reading habit.

The discussion will feature the participation of:

• Josep Lluis Barona, Professor of the History of Science at the University of Valencia.
• Nicolás Bas, Professor in the Department of the History of Science and Documentation at the University of Valencia.
• Ladislao Salmerón, Professor in the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology and member of the University of Valencia’s Interdisciplinary Research Structure on Reading (ERI-Lectura).
• Antoni Merelles, nursing professor.
• Víktor Gómez Ferrer, poet.

Attendees of the literary café are invited to enjoy coffee and a snack. In addition, attendance at the event will be recognized with 2 credits for members of the Valencian Association of Medical Students (AVEM).
