Even while in lockdown, the Health Sciences Library wants to celebrate Book Day.

This time, we are doing so with a virtual exhibition titled Doctors who write, and writer who are Doctors.

The exhibition was originally scheduled to be displayed in person at the Pelegrí Casanova Health Sciences Library and the Joan Reglà Humanities Library, but the current situation has led us to move it online.

The showcase features works by renowned figures such as Pío Baroja, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, Luis Martín-Santos, Pedro Laín Entralgo, Luis S. Granjel, Juan Rof Carballo, Felipe Trigo, Josep Lluís Barona, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Anton Chekhov, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, and John Keats, as well as female physicians like Rita Levi-Montalcini, Maria Montessori, Nawal El Saadawi, and Carmen Valls, among others.

We will also feature contributions from Josep Lluís Barona—historian, professor, and Chair of the History of Science at the University of Valencia—who discusses the history of world literature and the doctors who succumbed to the literary arts and became great writers, often pursuing both vocations simultaneously.
