Small exhibition on floor -1

Any Beneyto

María Beneyto is one of the most important writers of contemporary Valencian literature. Although she began to achieve notable success writing in Castilian, in the 1950s she was encouraged to write in Valencian, but her work in this language remained unpublished until the 1990s, when she became known thanks to the vindication of her figure.

Her education, which straddled two cultures, between the Spanish she learned in Madrid and her native Valencian, explains María Beneyto's literary bilingualism.

In addition to the various literary awards she has won, she was awarded the Valencian Letters Prize by the Generalitat Valenciana (1992), the International Working Women's Prize by the Valencian Parliament (2000), the Isabel de Villena Prize (2008) and the Luis Guarner Prize (2009).

In 2025 she was named Writer of the Year 2025 by the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua

Our library dedicates a small exhibition to him in the: Exhibition Area. Floor -1
