
Cristina Tomás, head of the Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació of the Universitat de València, shared in an interview with the Club de Excelencia en Gestión the projects and initiatives underway at the institution, as well as her vision on the challenges of library management.
The main objective of the SBD is to offer excellent and sustainable information resources, spaces and services for learning, teaching, research and culture. Its initiatives include the promotion of Open Science, with the coordination of the Open Science Committee and the management of key infrastructures such as the RODERIC Institutional Repository, the TURIA open access journal platform and the Scientific Production Portal. In addition, they have developed tools such as On Publicar and the list of Diamond Journals, recognized with an award for good practices in R&D&I.
The director also referred to the main management challenges, highlighting the need to guarantee a homogeneous service in all UV libraries and archives, the adaptation to digitization and the use of new technologies, as well as the preservation and dissemination of the bibliographic heritage.
As for the EFQM Seal held by the Library and Documentation Service, Cristina Tomàs stressed that it represents a recognition of excellence in management and an incentive for continuous improvement. Finally, she stressed the importance of the relationship with the Excellence in Management Club, a network that allows sharing good practices and exploring new strategies for innovation and sustainability in the library sector.
The SBD continues to advance in its commitment to quality, innovation and research, consolidating its position as a benchmark in information management and open access to knowledge.
