At the beginning of December the SBD reported the delay in CRUE's negotiations with the publishers Springer Nature, Wiley, ACS and Elsevier to renew the national agreements that ended on 31 December last year and that have allowed hundreds of UV authors to publish in open access (OA) free of charge since 2021.

To date, renewal agreements have already been reached with Springer Nature and Wiley, and negotiations continue with different prospects of success in the case of ACS and Elsevier.

It is important to remember that the other agreements to publish openly available at the UV remain in force until 2025 (https://www.uv.es/uvweb/libraries-documentation-service/en/research/discounts-publishing-oa/discounts-open-publication-1286386965819.html) and that, as an alternative to such agreements, you can consult the tool ‘Diamond Journals’ offered by the UV to identify journals published by research institutions, without payment of fees and with the quality indicators assessed by the calls for ANECA (https://www.uv.es/uvweb/libraries-documentation-service/en/research/publishing/diamond-journals-1286386862482.html).
