SVIsual Service: Accessible Assistance in Sign Language

With the aim of ensuring inclusive and accessible services for everyone, the Servei de Biblioteques i Documentació de la Universitat de València, in collaboration with the UV Disability Unit, provides the SVIsual service at all public service points.

SVIsual is a free real-time video interpreting service that facilitates communication between library staff and people with hearing impairments. Through a video connection, a sign language interpreter acts as an intermediary, enabling smooth and effective communication.

When a user needs assistance, they can contact the SVisual service at the front desk. Within seconds, a connection is established with the interpreting service, which translates the conversation between both parties.

The service offers the following advantages:

  • Immediate assistance without communication barriers.
  • Greater autonomy for people with hearing impairments.
  • Equal access to library services and resources.
