On Tuesday, 7 May at 6:00pm the book Introducció a la metafísica will be presented. The event will take place in the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences. Dean of the Faculty Elena Cantarino, retired professor Tobies Grimaltos and author of the book Pablo Rychter will be in attendance.
Metaphysics is a philosophical discipline that questions the existence and ultimate nature of everything around us, including ourselves. This introduction to the central issues and debates of the discipline, from the perspective of analytical tradition, poses the following questions: What are the ultimate constituents of reality, are they all singular or are there also universals? How can a thing change over time and still preserve its identity? What does it mean to say that one thing is the cause of another, and that one thing is essential to another? What are possible worlds and how do they help us to understand the world in which we live? The book’s five chapters discuss the main positions and arguments in contemporary debates about these questions.
