We celebrate Libraries Day 2021 with the inauguration of the Multicolor Space at the Social Sciences Library

  • October 22nd, 2021

Next Sunday, October 24, is Libraries Day, a celebration promoted by the General Directorate of Books and the Promotion of Reading that, since 1997, has been celebrated through the General Subdirectorate of Library Coordination.

Celebrating Libraries Day aims to show citizens the value of all types of libraries (public, school, specialized, university, national, etc ...) as well as to highlight the importance of having quality library services for all types of audiences and during all stages of life.

The libraries of the University of Valencia join, also this year, the celebration of Libraries Day, the motto of which in 2021 is "Read, Learn, Discover." This year, it is intended to value the capacity that libraries have shown to be open to everyone, and we celebrate it with the inauguration of a pilot project of Multicolor Space in the hall of the “Gregori Maians” Social Sciences Library, to offer attention and information to the LGBT students, racialized and of different ethnocultural origin, creating a safe meeting and socialization point.

From the Multicolor Space students be informed and doubts about the trans protocol will be resolved (request for a name change at the University and the forwarding of degrees), support will be made in cases of discriminatory behavior, and the cultural and educational programming will be disseminated (talks, training, volunteering ...) and more university resources. The face-to-face service hours will be every Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., from October 24 to November 30. We invite you to the inauguration on Tuesday, October 26, at 3:30 p.m., at the “Gregori Maians” Social Sciences Library.
