The tool ‘Diamond Journals. Quality Indicators’ provides access to a dataset of open access academic journals classified as Diamond journals. These journals are characterised by the fact that they do not charge fees to authors or readers, and offer authors licences that allow open deposit. These journals are of particular interest for the evaluation and accreditation of scientific publications in processes such as those of ANECA.
The journals have been identified in an exhaustive review carried out by the librarian staff of the Universitat de València. Several quality indicators are provided for the journals, such as their classification in reference databases like JCR, SJR and Dialnet, and whether they have editorial quality seals, like the DOAJ Seal or the FECYT Quality Seal.
Methodology of use and access
The tool can be accessed in two ways: with the LDAP credentials (username and password) of the UV, or the open version is available in Zenodo repository and in this web.
Download and access:
- Sorting by fields: Users can sort the results according to the fields they want. To do so, simply double-click on the title of the desired field or select the sorting option through the three dots that appear on the right side of the table.
- Filter by categories: The tool offers the possibility to apply filters according to the categories of the main databases (important: the filter only works from the first page):
- JCR categories
- SJR categories
- Dialnet categories
Quality indicators included:
- DOAJ Seal: Seal that guarantees that the journal complies with certain open access standards.
- FECYT Seal: Indicator of editorial quality awarded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology.
- BQ JCR and JCR Categories: Best quartile and categories in the Journal Citation Reports database.
- BQ SJR and SJR Categories: Best quartile and categories in the Scimago Journal Rank.
