SCORM

SCORM

Virtual Classroom offers a learning object management system, called Learning Online Materials (LORS), which allows all the ordered contents of the subject being studied on the platform to be incorporated into a page created for this purpose. In other words, it is a system for organising the lessons of the course that works through links and in a format similar to a web page. Among other things, it allows to control the number of times each student has read each topic, facilitating a follow-up of this.

These packages can include web pages, graphics, Javascript programs, Flash presentations and anything else that works in a web browser. The SCORM module allows you to easily upload any standard SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) package and make it part of a course.

In addition, the Learning Object Repository System or LORS allows content packages (or topics) to be shared by several classes or courses and carried over into the next year's course, although the original creator always retains control over data editing and permissions.

It works with SCORM language, so a programme such as Reload Editor (http://www.reload.ac.uk/) is required for content management.

This package is a particular file with a zip (or pif) extension containing valid SCORM or AICC course definition files. A SCORM package contains in the root of the zip a file called imsmanifest.xml which defines the structure of a SCORM course, the location of resources and many other things. This module is based on XML to represent the structure of the courses, which allows the activity to be used in several virtual learning environments.
