The Grades module is a feature assigned to the students of a course for each of the evaluative activities (assignments, exams, tests) that they carry out. In each academic year it has to be established which evaluative activities have to be carried out, in order to establish a grading percentage for each one of them and make the whole evaluation system more efficient.
Virtual Classroom has three tools to evaluate the student's work:
- User reports
- Assingment
- Evaluation or Questionnaire
The first two are numerical systems of complete evaluation and work independently, so we will have to decide on one or the other system for our evaluation. The third tool, Questionnaire, works independently.
Student sheets is an assessment schedule integrated into the platform. It is designed to facilitate student tracking. As it is embedded in the platform, it allows students to know immediately their marks in each activity, if the teaching team considers it appropriate.
It is private and each user has access to their own scores, but not to those of their colleagues. When accessing the card, students can distinguish different parameters in the card: the grade, the rank, the percentage, the position, the feedback and how much their assignment contributes to the total of the course.
For teaching staff, it is an agile and complete system that allows them to personally configure the activities that will be evaluated, the percentage value of each one and whether a minimum mark will be established to average with the rest of the scores, among many other options. In addition, the classic student records are available, which can include a photo, email address and details of each course participant. These forms can be reviewed at the time of evaluation.
The Assignment module, located on the Activities page, allows us to configure our entire assessment by setting the desired personal criteria. But we can also use it as a complement to User Reports, exclusively for the evaluation of, for example, the group work that the students will develop. In this way, the mark obtained by the students in the activity carried out online and assessed by the teaching staff following this module, would then be manually incorporated into the User Reports module. When creating an Assignment, as explained in the following link, we can edit the grading parameters before the students release the assignment.
This tool is particularly suitable for those teachers who want to do part of their teaching online, or who will use the classroom for the delivery of work or exams, practices or any other activity, because it makes possible the creation of working groups and joint evaluation of these. In addition, it offers the possibility of exporting and importing to spreadsheets.
Questionnaire offers extensive specification possibilities for the survey or test we want to do. It allows, among other things, to specify the date of activation and deactivation of the exercise, to determine the time in which the student is allowed to do it (i.e. 40 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.), to give feedback on the answers according to the criteria we specify (either when our students make a mistake, when they answer correctly, etc.) and to limit the number of times the same student can do an exercise, among other things.
