The University celebrates a day for equality in Welcome Week

With the start of the new academic year of the University of Valencia and within the programming of activities to welcome its new students, the Equality Unit has organized a day to be held on Thursday 20 October at the Rector's Office Assembly Hall.

With the Conference of the University of Valencia for equality. Challenges in health, communication and constitutional change, the aim is to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality, with special attention to people who have recently joined. One way to bring students, the rest of the university community and the whole of Valencian society closer is one of its values, such as equality between men and women.

The fotos of the Conference (author: Miguel Lorenzo) are posted on our Facebook page.

The contents of this day divided into three different tables aim to raise awareness about the importance of transversal teaching with a gender perspective in relevant areas of professional development in the field: Health, communication, education and law.

The university community in the area of Health will find in Table 1 relevant subjects of sexual and reproductive health, with a logical approach to gender. Table 2 warns of sexist messages that take refuge in the media: advertising, social media, etc. And finally, Table 3 is the most open content. It aims to provoke debate regarding approaches, content, legal framework, etc. that it should have the so-called State Pact on Equality and Against Gender Violence so often demanded.
