On June 28 we celebrate the international Pride Day, commemorating the Stonewall riots (New York, USA) of 1969. The Universitat de València has joined this celebration since 2017 by raising the rainbow flag on its buildings. This year it will fly again in the building of the Cultural Center La Nau, the Library of Social Sciences "Gregori Maians" at the Tarongers Campus, the Library of Sciences "Eduard Boscà" at the Burjassot Campus and the Ontinyent Campus.

In the first week of June, the Unitat d'Igualtat de la Universitat de València set up multicolored information points in the halls of the university libraries of Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, led by the technical staff of DiversitatsUV to bring students closer to the different resources on diversity. On the same day, workshops on knitting Huichol god's eyes with the colors of the rainbow flag were organized in the libraries of Social Sciences and Humanities, led by Las Ganchilleras Luchadoras, a group of gypsy women from the Cabañal neighborhood.

In addition to several initiatives carried out at the University of Valencia, the Social Sciences Library has prepared an exhibition of books related to the LGTBI+ movement. This exhibition aims to give visibility to diversity and promote inclusion, making available to users a selection of titles from its collection that address this issue from various perspectives.

To accompany the exhibition, the library has prepared a photocall so that users can take pictures with the books on display and share them on social networks. In addition, every time someone borrows a book from the exhibition, they will be given a fabric bookmark with the colors of the rainbow.

At the Biblioteca d'Educació they have organized a reading point with materials related to children's literature and diversity education and have dedicated their "expression notebook" to diversity, in addition to decorating the library with multicolored fabrics. At the Biblioteca de'Humanitats, there will be a bibliography on the subject and a book display in the library hall. In the Biblioteca de Ciències, they have prepared a display with related books and in the Biblioteca de Psicologia i Esport they have a book corner dedicated to Pride Month.

In addition to the activities in the libraries, from our Trobes catalog and virtually you can access the collection "Read with Pride" with a selection of books from all the libraries of the SBD that deal with issues related to LGTBIQ+ people.
