You can now consult the document Normalization of the scientific signature of the authors of the University of Valencia, prepared by the Libraries and Documentation Service and approved by the Governing Council on March 7, 2023.
The authors of the UV must always include the University of Valencia when they have to enter their affiliation data in all their scientific production (research articles, books, presentations and other publications).
In accordance with article 1 of the University Statutes and article 7.1 of the University of Valencia's Language Use Regulations , "the name of the University of Valencia must be in Valencian only". In addition, it must be taken into account that the official names of the departments, centers and services of the University of Valencia must be written in its own language.
Although different structural levels are used, under no circumstances can the mention of the University of Valencia be omitted, and the following order must be respected:
- Research group
- Department
- Center or Institute
- University of Valencia
Likewise, the postal address, city and corresponding country must be added, the latter in its English form.
To find more detailed information and some examples of affiliation:
- Library and Documentation Service of the UV, Standardization of the scientific signature of the authors of the University of Valencia
It is advisable to standardize the signature at the beginning of the research career. In other words, always use the same form of the name to identify the author as clearly and unambiguously as possible.
As a general rule:
Name:
- Always developed and avoid initials.
- Compound names are joined with a hyphen: María-José
- Abbreviations such as Vte, Mª , etc. are not used.
Surnames:
- Use a single surname if it is sufficiently recognizable and does not lead to misunderstandings: Moracho, Antonio, although the 2 surnames joined by a hyphen is the most unequivocal.
- In more common surnames, the 2 surnames joined by a hyphen are preferably used: Caballero-Plasencia, Antonio
- If the surname contains particles, they are also joined with hyphens: García-de-la-Torre, Carlos
- Do not use abbreviations such as Mz . , Rguez , etc.

- Spread the word on social networks
Possible errors (duplications, lack of information...) of the author's identity in databases should be corrected.
To correct your data in:
- DIALNET: write to revistas@uv.es or to the people in charge of your library with the problems you have encountered. From the corresponding library we will contact the person in charge of DIALNET and we will try to solve it as soon as possible.
- SCOPUS: if you find that your entry in this database is duplicated, does not enter for the chosen signature or is missing an article or is assigned one that is not yours, you can correct it yourself using this guide. If you can't solve it, contact with The Library Responds.
