The library's collections correspond to the different areas of knowledge that make up the Health Sciences.

Electronic collection

The electronic collection of the Health area is important both for the amount of resources it contains and for their quality. Electronic books, databases and many other resources are accessible through the Trobes catalogue and the thematic guides of our degrees. Access to the subscribed resources requires a UV email account and VPN connection from outside the University network.

Physical collection

The physical collection includes a varied typology of documents: handbooks, monographs, pamphlets, reference and consultation works, special and multimedia materials, as well as an important historical collection.

Location and access

To find any document in the library, you must first look it up in the catalogue and note its call number: the call numbers of our collections begin with the letters BS. In the book, the reference number is shown on the bookplate or spine label.

  • The handbooks: these form the bibliography recommended by lecturers to students of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Podiatry and Physiotherapy.
  • Most of the textbooks are located in the reading room on the ground floor. They are grouped in large blocks of subjects that correspond to the subjects of the different areas of knowledge and, within them, they are ordered by sequential number. Access to the manuals is free. Examples: ANATOMIA 0001, DERMATOLOGIA 0001.
  • At the information and loan desk on the ground floor you can ask for the handbooks with the call number TAULELL. They are also ordered by sequential number. Example: TAULELL 001. These are usually the most recent editions of titles in high demand.

Handbooks call numbers

  • Monographs, pamphlets, reference and reference works, special and audiovisual materials are in the library's repositories and must be requested at the desk on the ground floor. The catalogue indicates whether a document in the deposit is on loan or for consultation in the library. Remember to identify yourself in the catalogue beforehand to check the availability of a book.
  • Historical collection: the library has a valuable collection of old documents, nearly 8000 monographs and 3000 pamphlets, as well as numerous works donated by illustrious Valencian doctors. The oldest date from the 17th and 18th centuries. These materials are kept in the library's deposits and are not available for loan. To consult them, you have to fill in a form which is available at the desk on the ground floor with the details of the user and the book.
