    Cossos que importen

    What does our body say about who we are? And to what extent is our experience of it shaped by society?

    The exhibition "Cossos que importen" (Bodies That Matter) invites us to explore the human body from various perspectives: sexuality, gender, identity, health, body diversity, beauty, pleasure, and well-being.

    Through a curated selection of books, the exhibition prompts reflection on how our bodies have been studied, represented, and regulated, as well as on the standards of normality and beauty that influence our relationship with them. It also highlights body diversity and alternative ways of experiencing and accepting our bodies—ranging from fat, intersex, and trans bodies to experiences involving illness, pain, or eating disorders.

    Ultimately, "Cossos que importen" is an invitation to view the body from a broader, more diverse perspective: a body that feels, desires, changes, falls ill, experiences pleasure, and engages with the world. A body that, above all, matters.

    IV Conference on Education, Teaching and Innovation through Comics (JEDI)

    Next Tuesday, June 2, from 9:30 to 13:00, the IV Conference on Education, Teaching and Innovation through Comics (JEDI) will be held in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
     

    Once again, the Library will be present with a sample of the collection of comics that you can borrow during the Conference.
     

    This year, under the motto Brain, mind and memory: from the neurophysiology of memories to the creation of identities through comics, the conference focuses on the capacity of comics as a means for the transmission and construction of identities, and on their potential to communicate health or social awareness issues.
     

    It will feature teachers who use comics as a resource for teaching how the brain works and mental health pathologies, as well as for reflection through works of historical episodes with great impact on today's society, and authors Paco Roca and César Sebastián, responsible for works in which memory plays a fundamental role and which portray first-hand issues of great social relevance.

    Complete Anatomy: new trial resource

    Until June 30, the UV community will have access to a new trial resource from the publisher Elsevier: Complete Anatomy.


    Complete Anatomy is a 3D anatomy learning platform that offers interactive three-dimensional anatomical models to help students, teaching staff, and healthcare professionals better understand human anatomical structures.


    The platform includes more than 17,000 detailed anatomical structures from both the male and female body, as well as interactive tools and complementary clinical content such as videos and X-rays.

    An online training session via Teams is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19. No registration is required, and the session will be recorded.
