Self-service photography allows you to photograph the works at the library. You are allowed to use smartphones and tablets in silent mode so as not to disturb others.
In order to use this service you must have been authorised by the library staff. Authorization must be requested at the service desk in the room. Photos taken can only be used for research purposes and its subsequent use by users must, at all times, respect current legislation on intellectual property.
Already digitalised works that are accessible through Somni - the digital library of the Universitat de València - cannot be photographed.
A maximum of 10 photos can be taken of each work, provided that this does not account for more than 10% of the work.
Users are not allowed to:
- Take photos of the same work repeatedly.
- Photograph materials with fold-out pages or whose manipulation is complex.
- Use flash, a tripod or any additional object.
- Record audio or video.
- Take pictures of the staff, the reading room or other researchers.
When handling a piece of work, please note that:
- You can only take photos of it in the Pérez Bayer Room, at the designated spot and in front of the library staff.
- The library staff will check the works before any photo is taken and will indicate how to handle them properly.
- You must show the library staff the pages you wish to photograph and mark them with the acid-free paper bookmarks provided.
- The library staff will provide you with the necessary equipment (stand, cushion, counterweights) to place the documents and keep them open. No other elements must be used.
- You must use the counterweights to hold the pages. Put them on the margins and avoid placing them on the text.
- You must not handle any document to get a higher quality photo of it – do not fold it, press it or rearrange it.
- When taking a photo of non-bound document, you must not alter the original page order.
- When taking a photo of a folded page, you must do it very carefully.
