Exposure in preparation: The memory of Jaume I.Editions and translations of the Llibre dels fets

   King Jaume I must have been well aware of the power of writing. He knew that it was a way of transcending time, of prolonging his memory beyond his own life. That is why the king ordered the elaboration of the Llibre dels fets, a writing that is presented as an autobiography, written in the first person of the plural and that presents as a particularity the fact that it embraces the whole life of the monarch (1208-1276), and that it is the only autobiographical text of a medieval European monarch.

   The exhibition will take a tour of the history of the editions of the Llibre dels fets, the memorial work of the King En Jaume that, written in our language, is a classic of our literature, one of the greatest references of our culture and, for Valencians, a founding text. It will open on 27 July 2026 and will remain open until 27 September 2026.

Closure La Nau Building for the Serenates

On the occasion of the celebration of SERENATES 2026, the NAU building will close its doors at 20:00, from June 18 to July 2, forcing the modification of the schedule of the Biblioteca Històrica that will advance half an hour its closure (20:00 h).

Book presentation "Los libros de Francisco Pérez Bayer y el origen de la Biblioteca Universitaria de Valencia”.

   On Thursday, June 25 at 7 p.m., the book "Los libros de Francisco Pérez Bayer y el origen de la Biblioteca Universitaria de València”, by Barbara Barberà Matías, will be presented in the sala Duc de Calàbria.
   The book is no.4 of the Inutilitas Librorum, within the Cinc Segles collection, the result of the collaboration between Biblioteca Històrica de la Universitat de València and publishing house Publicacions de la Universitat (PUV).

La Biblioteca Històrica will be closed on Wednesday, June 24, the festival of Sant Joan.

Presentation of the book "Obres o trobes..." study and critical edition (June 2).

   On Tuesday, June 2, the book "Obres o trobes en llaors de la Verge Maria (València, 1474)" will be presented, studied and edited by Professor Antoni Ferrando Francés.  As a singular piece, the original copy of Les Trobes, unique in the world, preserved in the Biblioteca Històrica of the Universitat de València, will be exhibited in an extraordinary way.

   The book is number 3 of the Inutilitas Librorum series, within the Cinc Segles collection, the result of collaboration between the Bibloteca Històrica of the Universitat of València and the publishing house Publicacions de la Universitat (PUV)
